Maths 27/3

Slide 1

Declan needs to work for an aether 5 week to get his skateboard and have $1 left to buy a lolly on the way home. If he earns $10 a week and he wants to buy a skateboard for $49 he can.

I used an abacus to help me find out the answer.

It was easy to find it out after I used the abacus.

Slide 2

For the trip to qe2 tane mahuta needs $1060. 106 x $10.
We only have $982
So we don't have enough to go to qe2
We are $78 short

We worked this out by counting up from 982 to 1000 and then added an extra 60 = 18 + 60

Slide 3

Gwendolyn saved all of her 10 cent coins and she saved her money for a year.

She saved 67 of them.

She ended up with $6.70

  1. Hi Charlie, hope you and your family are doing well. You've been busy in lockdown, I have been enjoying looking at all your blog posts. What a clever way to do maths online. Maybe you could make your own maths question slide for other people to do if you enjoyed doing this one?

  2. Hi Charli. I like how you solved these by multiplying by 10. I wonder if you could embed the slide show into this blog post? Stay safe.

  3. Hi Charli. I really liked the strategy you used for slide 2, counting up to the thousand and then counting on the rest to get to 1060. Were you able to do this in your head or did you record the steps as you were doing them?
